Braking systems operate by converting kinetic energy into thermal energy. Under heavy braking cycles, standard cast-iron rotors can quickly exceed temperatures of 600°C. High surface heat causes pad outgassing, creating a micro-layer of gas that separates the pad from the rotor face. Slotted designs act as mechanical vents, breaking down this boundary layer and restoring contact surface integrity.
Furthermore, our slotted rotors are manufactured from Gray Cast Iron with a highly controlled flake graphite structure. This structure excels at dampening vibrations and dispersing thermal heat. By using precision CNC lathes, the slots are machined with specific radiused edges, preventing the development of stress points where thermal stress cracks might otherwise form.
